Beloved and Sethe. A Quest?
Paul D. wanted to make Sethe and Denver to become his family, but Beloved will come into the picture to complicate the relationship he has with the two women. I think this is how Sethe definitively falls into the role of the traveler, because after Beloved enters the story Sethe's path of a happy family with Paul D. is drastically changed. Her quest she believed had ended with her running away from enslavement from the Sweet Home, and the misery she encounters soon after finding some peace and salvation from Baby Suggs and her home. I think Beloved is going to make her stop from running from past memories, and face them and thus gain the self knowledge that a traveler seeks for in a quest. As described in the first chapter of HTRLLAP.
